This quick tutorial will explore how to customize the Academic CV template. You may also find it useful for customizing similar templates.
For Free Templates
Go to the template’s GitHub page and click Use Template > Create a New Repository:
Then, in the Repository Name field, enter USERNAME.github.io
where USERNAME is your GitHub username:
Wait a few seconds for GitHub to copy the template to your account.
In your shiny new repository, click Code > Codespaces > Create codespace on main to edit your new website:
For Sponsors’ Templates
- Create a new GitHub repository
- In the Repository Name field, enter
USERNAME.github.io
where USERNAME is your GitHub username - Scroll down and click the Create Repository button
- In the Repository Name field, enter
- Download the Sponsors’ repository
- Find the template you want in the downloaded sponsors’ folder, such as
templates/academic-pages/
- Click the link to upload files to your repository:
- Drag all the files from your local template folder to your GitHub repository and click the Commit changes button to save the files to your website repository
- In your shiny new repository, click Code > Codespaces > Create codespace on main to edit your new website:
For Existing Sites
If you clicked a link to deploy a template with Netlify, Netlify will have already created a copy of the template in your GitHub account.
In that case, go to your website’s GitHub repository and click Code > Codespaces > Create codespace on main
